Multiple brackets per participant
By default, each participant enters one bracket per competition. A bracket competition can allow up to five, so a participant can try different champion picks or cover an upset they are unsure about.
For the trade-off between one bracket each and several, and how seeding and byes shape a draw, see bracket competitions explained.
Setting the limit
Section titled “Setting the limit”The number of brackets each participant may enter is part of the bracket’s setup, alongside its teams, seeds and lock time. It can be any number from 1 to 5, and it is 1 unless set otherwise.
Fanzava’s team sets up bracket structures, so ask for the limit you want when you arrange the bracket. It applies to every participant in the competition equally.
What participants see
Section titled “What participants see”A participant can create brackets up to the limit and fill each one in separately before the lock. Once they reach the limit, another attempt is refused with a message saying how many brackets are allowed. Each bracket has its own name, of up to 100 characters, which helps a participant keep “safe picks” and “upset special” apart.
Every bracket is scored independently as results come in.
How the leaderboard treats extra brackets
Section titled “How the leaderboard treats extra brackets”The bracket leaderboard shows each participant once, ranked by their best bracket. Their other brackets do not appear as separate rows, so entering more brackets gives a participant more chances at a high score but never more than one place on the leaderboard. See how the bracket leaderboard ranks entries.
Bracket pools
Section titled “Bracket pools”A pool is a smaller league inside a bracket competition, created by participants themselves, for example for a team or a group of friends:
- A participant creates a pool and shares its code; others join with the code.
- A pool can be private (join by code only) or public, in which case its leaderboard can be browsed by others in the competition.
- The pool has its own leaderboard. Each member nominates which of their brackets counts in that pool; a member who has not nominated one is ranked on their best.
Pools sit alongside the main leaderboard and do not change it.
Plan limits
Section titled “Plan limits”Brackets are counted by participant, not by bracket: someone with three brackets counts once against your hub’s participant limit.
