Quickstart: your first hub in 10 minutes
This guide takes you from nothing to a running tipping competition: an account, a hub with your name and colours on it, a competition on a real season, and your first participants invited.
Step 1: Create your account
Section titled “Step 1: Create your account”On Create Your Account, sign up with Google, with Microsoft, or with an email address and password. A password needs at least 12 characters, with both letters and numbers.
This account owns the hub you create next, and it is the hub’s first admin.
Step 2: Create your hub
Section titled “Step 2: Create your hub”On Create Your Hub, fill in three fields:
- Hub Name: what participants see when they visit your hub, for example “Acme Sports Tipping”.
- Hub URL: the subdomain your hub lives at, such as
acme-sports.fanzava.com. Use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens. The field checks the address as you type and shows whether it is available; an address you have checked is held for you for 15 minutes. - Your Name: shown on your profile and on leaderboards.
When you continue, the hub is created and you are taken to it, at its own address.
Step 3: Run the setup wizard
Section titled “Step 3: Run the setup wizard”A new hub opens in a short setup wizard, which runs before you reach the admin dashboard:
- Hub setup: choose the sports your hub will run and the competition format you have in mind.
- Visual identity: add your logo and choose an accent colour, a font style and the corner style for buttons and cards.
- Invite members: invite people by email, share a join link, or import a CSV file. You can also invite people at any time later.
The wizard ends on a Hub launched screen, and from there you enter your hub’s admin dashboard at /admin.
Every choice here can be changed later from Admin → Settings: branding under Branding & logo and Theme, and invitations under Admin → Participants.
Step 4: Create a competition
Section titled “Step 4: Create a competition”Select New competition in the admin header. The create-competition wizard has five sections:
| Section | What you set |
|---|---|
| The basics | Competition name, sport, league and season, a description shown on the join screen, and visibility |
| Competition type | Tipping, Margin or Bracket (Fantasy is not open yet) |
| Scoring | Points per correct tip, the late-tip policy, confidence, the tiebreaker margin and jokers |
| Groups (optional) | Named groups to split participants, and whether groups are ranked against each other |
| Prizes | Prizes for the competition’s winners |
Two choices are worth understanding before you start:
- Visibility. Public means anyone in your hub can find and join the competition. Private means invite only, hidden from the hub’s competition list.
- Round range. By default a competition runs for the whole season. Under the advanced options in The basics you can start it at a later round or end it early.
The defaults are a sound starting point: 1 point a correct tip, jokers on at ×2 with three per season, and a missed tip assigned to the away team. Each is explained under Tipping.
Select Create Competition to create it, or Save as Draft to come back to it. A draft does not count toward your plan’s limit on live competitions; publishing it does.
Fixtures, results and scores come from the sports data feed for the league and season you chose, so there is nothing to enter by hand for a supported league.
Step 5: Invite participants
Section titled “Step 5: Invite participants”To invite more people after the setup wizard, go to Admin → Participants. From there you can:
- invite people by email address;
- import a CSV file to invite many people at once;
- generate an invite link and share it wherever your audience is;
- see pending invitations, and resend or revoke them.
An invitation creates no account and uses no participant place until the person accepts it. Participants join your hub, not Fanzava: they sign up on your hub’s own address and see your branding throughout.
Step 6: Watch the first round
Section titled “Step 6: Watch the first round”Once participants have tipped and the first games start, results arrive from the feed and the leaderboard updates as each fixture is scored. The perfect round bonus, if you use it, is added once every game in the round has a result.
