Perfect round bonus

The perfect round bonus is a one-off payment of extra points to a participant who gets every tip in a round right. It is paid once per round, on top of the points their tips earned, and it is off unless you switch it on.

For the participant’s view of a tipping competition, see tipping on fanzava.com.

The bonus lives in the competition’s advanced mechanics, which anyone who can manage the competition can open from the competition page.

  1. Open the competition and select the Advanced Mechanics tab.
  2. Under Bonus Rules, switch on Perfect Round Bonus.
  3. Enter the Bonus points: the number of points paid once to a participant who got every tip in the round right.
  4. Select Save Configuration.

The editor also offers three presets, and two of them include the bonus:

Preset Points a correct tip Perfect round bonus
Sports Classic 3 5
Gaming Competitive 5 10
Office Simple 1 Off

If the competition has already had a round scored, saving asks for a short change note and publishes the change as a new version of the scoring rules. See Changing scoring during a season for what that means for rounds already scored.

A participant earns the bonus for a round when every tip they hold in that round is correct. Three details decide the edge cases:

  • The round has to be finished. The bonus is worked out only when every fixture in the round has a result. While a round is still in progress, the leaderboard moves with each result, but nobody receives the bonus until the last result is in.
  • A cancelled or postponed match is left out. A fixture the feed marks cancelled or postponed scores nothing for anyone, and it neither earns nor blocks the bonus. The check runs over the fixtures that were played.
  • A tip locked in at zero points blocks it. If your competition’s late-tip policy is Zero points, a fixture the participant missed is filled with a zero-point auto-pick, and a round containing one never pays the bonus. The participant did not make that pick, so it cannot complete a perfect set. See Lock policies and late tips.

The bonus is a flat amount for the round. It is added once, after the round’s tips are scored, and nothing else in the round changes it:

  • A joker multiplies the points of one tip, not the bonus.
  • A confidence rung or rank changes what each tip is worth, not the bonus.
  • A margin award is paid per tip, separately from the bonus.

For example, in a competition paying 1 point a correct tip with a 5-point bonus, a participant who gets all nine games right in a round scores 9 for the tips and 5 for the perfect round: 14 for the round.

In a motorsport competition, the same setting pays the perfect race bonus to a participant whose race picks are all correct.

Does the bonus change once it has been paid? Only if the round is scored again. A retroactive rescore works the round out afresh, so a participant who no longer has every tip right after a result correction no longer holds the bonus.

Can I set a different bonus for finals? No. There is one bonus value per competition. Changing it part-way through a season publishes a new version of the rules for the rounds scored after the change.
